Marugal, an operator of unique and characterful hotels, is looking for a General Manager to lead the opening and management of Palácio de Tavira, a luxury boutique hotel in the heart of Tavira, Portugal.
About the hotel
Palácio de Tavira is a 36-room hotel that seamlessly blends Portuguese elegance with Moorish influences. Featuring a Mediterranean restaurant, a spa, two rooftop pools, and a locally inspired bar, the hotel offers an experience of effortless luxury and authenticity.
Responsibilities
- Lead the hotel’s pre-opening and ensure a successful launch.
- Oversee daily operations with a strategic vision and a commitment to excellence.
- Build and motivate a dedicated team, fostering a culture of genuine hospitality.
- Ensure high-quality standards and sustainability practices aligned with Marugal’s philosophy.
- Manage budgets, optimize revenue, and ensure efficient cost control.
- Represent the hotel and strengthen its positioning in the market.

Minimum requirements
- Previous experience as a General Manager or in a senior leadership role in boutique or luxury hotels.
- Strong operational expertise with a focus on personalized service.
- Ability to lead multicultural teams with warmth and effectiveness.
- Passion for hospitality and deep knowledge of the luxury market.
- Strong financial acumen and cost management skills.
- Fluency in English and Portuguese (additional languages are a plus).
